BREAKING NEWS:: HITCHED OR DITCHED

Breaking news!  Ivy will be appearing on a BRAND NEW reality show premiering on the CW TONIGHT at 9 pm so get your Tivo’s ready!

Grab a Budweiser and a lawn chair and tune in to see the wedding Ivy and Grace Beason planned…in the meantime here’s a few “insider secrets” Ivy picked up behind the scenes of reality TV:

1) It ain’t as real as you think:  You may have suspected as much from watching conversations between Lo and LC on The Hills that sounds like they might have been – how do we put it nicely – coached, a bit.  Well, it is true. End ‘o story.

2) That’s not Ivy’s office: When you tune in to watch Ivy’s episode, you’ll see her being interviewed in her office. Except not. That is not her office. That is an office that the 70 person film crew commandeered because it suited their purposes and it looked, to them, what they thought a Wedding Planner’s Office should look like.  I repeat: that is not Ivy’s office.

3) Despite the faux-reality of reality TV, there are some truly cool people who work on these shows! Ivy would specifically like to give a shout out to Angie, the gal responsible for set design for shows like The Bachelor and the Bachelorette. She’s a talented lady with a sharp eye for design and all of us here at Ivy Robinson Weddings and Events are looking forward to working with her again soon!

Also, a huge THANKS to Grace with Grace Leisure Events! She and Ivy were partners in crime…no need to say more!

Here are a few more shout outs to some of the great people here in Asheville, Charlotte and in Chapel Hill who pitched in to make this show work!

A Whimsical Affair

insight from ava phillips our fab intern!

Shades of yellow, fluttering butterflies, dancing ribbons, candy-filled centerpieces, and the undeniable love of Meredith and Sam Daniels, made this Ivy Robinson designed wedding an unforgettable event. Married May 2nd 2009 in Uptown Charlotte, Meredith and Sam had a wedding straight out of a fairytale.

The ceremony was held at Grace on Brevard, a simply charming sanctuary that set the tone of the day. The reception, located at Byron’s at South End, was unquestionably stunning thanks to Ivy. Cocktail tables were dressed with golden table cloths that flowed like gowns, complete with an extra-large bow tied at the “waist”. These bows matched the fabric that Ivy picked out specifically for this wedding, matching various pieces made around the room. The light-hearted centerpieces were filled with yellow and brown candies to add to the playful theme.

The flowers, by Studio Flora Diva, were out of this world creative! They were oversized, completely thought out, and so much fun. One of the arrangements that stood out to me the most, was a candle surrounded by typical yellow dandelions, which can be found in any yard, with over arching pieces of grass! It was so beautiful, you never would have thought it was made out of such simple pieces.

The cake was also absolutely gorgeous; major kudos to Gregory Bingham at the Art of Cake. This chocolate masterpiece was tiered with lemon drop candy pieces separating the layers. On the cake were beautiful glittering butterflies that complimented perfectly with the gorgeous pink and white butterflies floating above the table. All the food, catered by Byron’s, was just as beautiful and delicious as the wonderful cake. It’s the feature that made the reception so amazing.

Many other details crafted by Ivy are what set this wedding apart. One of these details included a ribbon wall. Lining the entire back of the fifty two foot long wall that was 13 feet tall, were layers and layers of pale yellow, flowing ribbons. This detail is truly what made the room so whimsical and light.

Ivy also rented modern yellow furniture that gave this reception a little edge. Greeting the guests was not a typical guest book. Carolina Photo Booths was there to make this event even more memorable for the couple. A table full of fun props, a guest book made for scrap booking, and OF COURSE guests willing to play along, made this extra detail so very exciting!

Another perfect 10 for Ivy! This wedding will be unforgettable for Meredith and Sam and all their friends and family! The personalized planning, creative details, much thought and consideration, is what makes Ivy’s weddings so above the rest! And to the bride and groom, if your life together is as beautiful and exciting as your wedding day, you’ve got a great future ahead!
