A year ago, I hopped on a plane and headed to the Provence Region in southern France to meet up with the oh- so- amazing photographer, Corbin Gurkin.  It doesn’t take a lot to make me happy–just give me a large cup of coffee and a cupcake OR a  fab French red wine and cheese plate.  So in the midst of our mental vacation, we decided to hit up the local market and put together a fun tablescape to photograph.  Trust me, after the “session” the items in the picture didn’t stand a chance….salut! p.s of course corbin took this pic!

It was literally ocean side dining on Bald Head Island….

I already had the dream team  with me for  a wedding so why not throw a photo shoot on top of all the madness after a 20 hour work day?!

Vivre Palm Table Setting by Ivy Robinson Weddings and Events:

When Ceci approached me with her Vivre design challenge, I was immediately drawn to the the palm leaves and pink birds. Now that it’s summer, I thought the beach would be the perfect setting for this bold color palette. Our goal was to create the unexpected while blending the use of natural elements such as the ocean, wooden tables and flowers with acrylic chairs. Placing the table right up against the waves added a fun twist to a nontraditional luncheon.

Developing a seating chart can be one of the most time consuming aspects of a wedding.  Especially when Aunt Sue and Uncle Richard haven’t spoken in 15 years after he caught her with the yard boy and he married the babysitter.  Not only is it mandatory that their assigned tables are completely across the room from each other but their chairs must be strategically placed so their backs are saying hello but their faces never have the slim chance to even make eye contact.  There is always a tricky situation to acknowledge and address but at least the display of escort cards can be cool.  Right?! This is an “escort card chandelier” that we designed and made for a wedding over a year ago.  Elizabeth Jones rocked out our calligraphy and Abigail Seymour took the killer pics. Happy “Seating Charting”.

I love Asheville, NC and  I love doing weddings there!

Our approach to Whitney & Justin’s wedding was to blend the elements of vintage and modern while keeping the look timeless.  The color scheme we incorporated into the design was based around the metal family by using tones of antique gold and charcoal grey with a splash of white to add that modern flair.  Whitney and Justin love cheese therefore the chef rocked out a cheese display for them using old cheese and wine boxes. Their other favorite food are chick fil-a nuggets so that was passed out in cones that matched their invitations for late night along with white boas.  The lounge area had 10 foot tall arrangements of hydrangea placed around along with Missy Mclamb’s photo booth where guests scrap booked in a custom leather book by dew drop designs.

In August, IRW&E rolled to Asheville, NC for Whitney & Justin’s rehearsal dinner and wedding weekend.   The rehearsal dinner was at The Farm where we incorporate burlap linens, old church pews, rocking chairs, tree stumps, cast iron pans, wild flowers & buckets of carrots to feed the horses!  Who can’t have fun with BBQ & Beer, Boots, Corn hole, a Bluegrass Band, & Homemade Banana Pudding…Enjoy
